It was written during the war to give the folks at home an idea of what was happening. It is fascinating.
Boyd Cable (pen name for Ernest Andrew Ewart) offers up a great collection of vignettes of life at the front. The vignettes are designed to show the real story behind the daily reports that came from the front and that the people back home were reading. This book was published during the war and was meant as a propaganda tool for the military. Cable offers a very easy reading book with the subject changing so often you wonder what is next. The best story, in my opinion, is of the placing of the mine and digging under "no-mans land."
